RHINO Founders’ Prize 2011

A Poetry Contest Open to All Poets with a Distinctive Voice
  • One winning poem will receive $300.
  • Two runners-up will receive $50 each.
  • The award-winning poets will be listed and their poems published in RHINO Poetry and on our website.
  • In the past, some Founders’ Prize contestants who did not place in the contest have also been published in the journal.
  • To submit: Send up to 5 unpublished poems (no more than 5 pages total).
  • $10 entry fee. Three winners are always chosen.
GUIDELINES:
  1. Submissions must include a cover letter listing your
    • name
    • address
    • e-mail address and/or telephone number
    • titles of your poems
  2. No identifying information should appear on the poems.
  3. Manuscripts will not be returned.
  4. For those submitting through the post:
    • Include an SASE for notification of results.
    • Enclose a $10 entry fee (make checks payable to RHINO).
    • Label your contest submission: “Founders’ Contest.”
    • Mail submissions to:

  5. For those using the electronic submission manager:
    • Paste your cover letter in the “comments” field.
    • Upload a single file in Word .doc or .docx format.
    • Separate poems with page breaks.
    • Pay through PayPal, using the button provided on the Submissions page, or
    • Send a check made out to RHINO to the address above, and note in the “Comments” field that a check is on the way.

      • Submissions must be postmarked between April 1 – October 1, 2010.
      • All contest submissions will also be considered for regular publication in the 2011 edition of RHINO.
      • Winners and runners-up will be announced and published on our web site
